This was the closest I was able to associate with my music library, after searching yellow, plaid, gingham, square, checkers and finally butter.
Dimensions: 30 x 33 inches
This is my first plaid/gingham attempt. Being the king of scraps, I was had plenty of yellow scraps to work with. And because I like a challenge, even it is a coincidence, I am digging the gradients in this design: midtone: hue shift and undertone: light to dark – a gradi-plaid, ginghad, plaham?
All yarns were worsted/aran weights. I did not keep good track of the unlabeled yarns, as this was a learning project. All colors fall within the yellow-orange spectrum, including some self-named colors: Buttercup* and Gold.*
Below is the palette I worked from, incorporating lightest shades first.
I added the color on the opposite side of the grey to provide some balance. I never did a tension check, considering how loose I was crocheted the worsted on an H hook. Oh well. Unfortunately, I noticed the cuffs on Con Los Años Que Me Quedan are not even either.
Ugh! I just want to get back to some knitting, hoping the different hand motion will provide some relief for my right hand; and I want to work on some of my own stuff now.
I have no idea, but would guess at DK* on a J hook, acrylic*.
Constructed in single crochet with an E hook, I was going to donate to charity as I had received the yarn for free from CSNanaCat. However, as I know of a baby coming into this world, and having completed the afghan way ahead of delivery date, I am going to send to my friend and his wife as a gift for their infant.
I was going to add a solid white border in chenille, as well, but my fellow fiber artists thought white me too much of a contrast. They finally got me to agree on a light/silver grey. However, I don’t know now. I am done and should leave well enough alone.
Content: 10% Rayon Care: Dry-clean or hand wash in cold with mild detergent. Air-dry.+
Having received this from CSNanaCat, I didn’t pay particular attention while cake-winding, but when I finally started the second hank, I noticed a difference in dye lots. Close up it’s less noticeable for all the colors, but in the picture a distinction is noticeable. Oh well!
+ Care is suggested care; laundry care not on yarn label.
Care: Wash in water )not exceeding 30°C/86°F) on delicate setting. Do not Bleach. Tumble dry at low heat, on delicate setting. Do not iron or press. Do not dry-clean. Color: 04616 Pitter Patter Weight: 6, Super Bulky
Is You Is Or Is You Ain’t My Baby Afghan: On da Hook
Time to do some serious knitting with my big balls. :D :D :D
This is actually one skein of Bernat Baby Blanket that I have divided evenly for my next project, which will involve increases with ball one and decreases for ball two. I received this skein from CSNanaCat’s recent de-stash. :)
Winnie The Pooh Beanie for Mini-Mikey, who’ll be here soon!
About The Project Name
Winnie The Pooh by Walt Disney Chorus should be the obvious choice, right? Indubitably!
About The Project
My niece-in-law asked me if I could crochet a hat like this…
Her plans is to take a similar picture with Mini-Mikey.
I was going to wing it, but happened to remember seeing a similar hat recently while surfing the interwebs.
About The Pattern
Sure enough…”Baby Bear” Simple Baby Beanie by Rachel Glassco. I chose not to do the red in the ribbing, per the pattern, instead choosing to following in pattern to end like the original picture above. Which, had to be an executive decision as mom was admitted to the hospital today.
At Mini-Mikey’s baby shower, Roxanne asked me to make a special hat for a photo shoot, where she will place the baby in a Hunny pot with the beanie…at least, I think that’s the plan.
I searched “mercerized cotton worsted weight” because I wanted something lustrous and this came up: Love KnittingBlue Sky Fibers Worsted Cotton. The colors – True Red 641 and Dandelion 638 – are perfect, but I am always hesitant to order online, due to extravagant shipping costs, I searched local yarn shops and discovered that out of the possible three stores near me: one was closed; one I was banned from; and the other had no cotton. The one I was banned from probably has what I want, but screw them! Besides this is for my grand/great nephew and I am willing to skip a meal for him – I shouldn’t miss it.
