Name

Deep Sleep by The B-52’s

Sleep > afghan…get it? Did I mention I am going to see The B-52’s in October at The Greek Theater with Diane?

Deep Sleep Afghan

Constructed in single crochet with an E hook, I was going to donate to charity as I had received the yarn for free from CSNanaCat. However, as I know of a baby coming into this world, and having completed the afghan way ahead of delivery date, I am going to send to my friend and his wife as a gift for their infant.

I was going to add a solid white border in chenille, as well, but my fellow fiber artists thought white me too much of a contrast. They finally got me to agree on a light/silver grey. However, I don’t know now. I am done and should leave well enough alone.

Dimensions: approximately 25.5 inches square

Yarn

Newton’s Yarn Country Chenille

Content: 10% Rayon
Care: Dry-clean or hand wash in cold with mild detergent. Air-dry.+

Having received this from CSNanaCat, I didn’t pay particular attention while cake-winding, but when I finally started the second hank, I noticed a difference in dye lots. Close up it’s less noticeable for all the colors, but in the picture a distinction is noticeable. Oh well!

+ Care is suggested care; laundry care not on yarn label.

Is You Is Or Is You Ain’t My Baby: Bound Off

About The Project Name

Is You Is Or Is You Ain’t My Baby? by Dinah Washington [Rae & Christian Remix]

I was looking for a name that might match the print, but came across a baby reference first.

About Is You Is Or Is You Ain’t My Baby

Dimensions: approximately 28.5 inches square

I am surprised and pleased that approximately 258 yards of super bulky makes a decent size baby afghan. This is a tip to file under cost efficiency.

Is You Is Or Is You Ain’t My Baby Afghan: On da Hook

Is You Is Or Is You Ain’t My Baby Afghan: On da Hook

Time to do some serious knitting with my big balls. :D :D :D

This is actually one skein of Bernat Baby Blanket that I have divided evenly for my next project, which will involve increases with ball one and decreases for ball two. I received this skein from CSNanaCat’s recent de-stash. :)

I have found a pattern that is extremely similar to Lion Brand Diagonal Baby Blanket: Corner-to-Corner Blankie by Shea Leonard. I am going to use it because I like the beginning better.

Winnie The Pooh

Winnie The Pooh Beanie for Mini-Mikey, who’ll be here soon!

About The Project Name

Winnie The Pooh by Walt Disney Chorus should be the obvious choice, right? Indubitably!

About The Project

My niece-in-law asked me if I could crochet a hat like this…

Her plans is to take a similar picture with Mini-Mikey.

I was going to wing it, but happened to remember seeing a similar hat recently while surfing the interwebs.

About The Pattern

Sure enough…”Baby Bear” Simple Baby Beanie by Rachel Glassco. I chose not to do the red in the ribbing, per the pattern, instead choosing to following in pattern to end like the original picture above. Which, had to be an executive decision as mom was admitted to the hospital today.

About the Yarn

Blue Sky Fibers Organic Cotton

Fiber Content: 100% Certified Organic Cotton
Yarn Color:s 641 True Red and 638 Dandelion
Yarn Weight: 4, Worsted

Beautifully, rich hues. Nice to work with. Fiber halo-ing.

Ordered from Love Knitting, from whom I received twice the amount I needed – I will make no comment as to whom was negligent, as I do not possess that knowledge.

Winnie The Pooh Baby Beanie: Inception

Winnie The Pooh Baby Beanie

At Mini-Mikey’s baby shower, Roxanne asked me to make a special hat for a photo shoot, where she will place the baby in a Hunny pot with the beanie…at least, I think that’s the plan.

I searched “mercerized cotton worsted weight” because I wanted something lustrous and this came up: Love Knitting Blue Sky Fibers Worsted Cotton. The colors – True Red 641 and Dandelion 638 – are perfect, but I am always hesitant to order online, due to extravagant shipping costs, I searched local yarn shops and discovered that out of the possible three stores near me: one was closed; one I was banned from; and the other had no cotton. The one I was banned from probably has what I want, but screw them! Besides this is for my grand/great nephew and I am willing to skip a meal for him – I shouldn’t miss it.

I will be using “Baby Bear” Simple baby beanie pattern, © Rachel Glassco 2015. I hope it comes out the right size. I have a problem with my baby hats not fitting. Too small last time. Wish me luck. Can’t wait for yarn to arrive because in order to avoid shipping, I threw in a set of crochet hooks for me.

Old Hooker Learns New Trick

To Tink or Tech?

I did it!

Now, what am I going to make?

I have a bag of Schoeller + Stahl Portofino Soufflé I picked up along the way. I am thinking baby afghan due to color and yarn weight, right?

But because I don’t have a pattern, I don’t know how far each ball will go, so now I need to learn to interlock crochet in-the-round!

Which, I will have to teach myself!

Make it so!

Smiling Faces Sometimes Baby Blanket

Smiling Faces Sometimes Baby Blanket

About The Project Name

Smiling Faces Sometimes by The Undisputed Truth refers to the fact that I was smiling sometimes – when I figured out why the pattern kept bowing.

About The Project

This project marks the end of my Bernat Baby Coordinates from my stash…finally! The only amount left will be used in a scrap project. I was not sure how big this project would be; I’m glad that it is big enough to be used as something practical. I was prematurely thinking mama could use this as a pad for Mini Mikey due to the thickness created by alternating back and front post double crochets.

About The Pattern

I may write it up, but I am sure there are plenty out there already. I will check and if not, I will write up the pattern now that I know the secret to making this pattern coming out flat.
